The character was originally conceived by [[martin_scorsese|Martin Scorsese]], but he had to give up the concept to [[hidetaka_miyazaki|Hidetaka Miyazaki]] after losing to him in a game of [[super_smash_bros|Super Smash Bros.]]. This was a massive loss, as Pitfall Harry's inclusion in //Bloodline// alone resulted in the game selling 10.7 million copies domestically. His writing was highly praised, scoring 11/10s across the board. The only reviewer to not like him was [[the_angry_video_game_nerd|The Angry Video Game Nerd]], stating that the character was "a shit-load of fuck!" in his review of the game.
