**//The Emoji Movie//** is an American-Australian gangster film co-directed by [[hidetaka_miyazaki|Hidetaka Miyazaki]] and [[hideo_kojima|Hideo Kojima]], and released by [[happy_madison|Happy Madison Productions]] in 28 July 2017. It is a love letter to film noir movies from the 1950s. The story is about a "meh" emoji who tries to live in apathy inside a dying smartphone increasingly run down by "malware gangs", all while the rest the world around him falls apart. The film itself has gotten respectable critical and box office reception, but has been banned in over 32 countries for being too edgy and having too many "Kojima-isms".
