Arc System Works is a video game development studio founded in 12 May 1988. They are mostly known for their unexpected breakthrough in the PvPvE live-service genre. This achievement is considered one of the biggest comebacks in gaming history.
The studio's dream and mission statement since its inception was to create a deep and immersive Burger King themed video game. They were unable to get the rights for a very long time and were unwilling to release something that wasn't about the restaurant, causing the company to basically burn money for decades. It wasn't until 2004 when they finally got permission from Burger King to create Sneak King and finally fulfill their purpose.
Unfortunately, their dream game was a financial failure despite the good reviews, which left them to the brink of bankruptcy. With this in mind, the team decided to give it one more try by starting development of Arc Raiders in 2008. After 17 years of development, it was finally released and became an overnight success, saving themselves from shutting down.
