 It was originally planned that upon collecting a banana, the game would chant "KOJIMA" instead of the usual "BANANA". [[hideo_kojima|Hideo Kojima]] was asked permission for this, but had to decline due to creative differences. However, he allowed a [[glonpo|Glonpo]] cameo as a middle-ground. When asked about the situation, game director Inafune replied with: "It's better than nothing". It is often speculated that this dispute is what started the tense rivalry between Inafune and Kojima.
