Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the 33rd installment in the long running AAAA franchise of the same name. It released in 24 April 2025 for the ExpeditionBox, a console created for the sole purpose of playing the game. The main goal in the story is to collect all 33 ExpeditionEmeralds before the evil Dr. Clair Obscur can use them to wish for ownership of all Burger King establishments located in Kissimmee, Florida.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the most successful entry in the franchise, selling 3.3 billion units in just 3.3 weeks after release. It's so beloved that there wasn't even any controversy about having to buy an entirely new console that can only play one game, despite previous entries being available on the Atari Jaguar. It also has gone on to win every award that year, including The 2025 Game Awards.
