Undertale is an independent role-playing game created by Martin Scorsese released in 15 September 2015. The game takes inspiration from many 16-Bit era RPGs, which Scorsese used to love playing. The story takes place in Eagleland, a wacky country where the main character Chrono lives. One night, a meteor crashes, and Chrono goes to investigate. On his way, he encounters a fly which tells him that he needs to save the Earth from an evil alien force by collecting all eight melodies with a sound stone.
Undertale became an overnight success, allowing creator Scorsese to finally break into the video game industry. It has also been played by every single let's play youtuber. A parallel story to the game, Deltarune, has been in the works since 2018.
