Donkey Kong Bananza is a platforming game directed by Keiji Inafune released on 17 July 2025. It features the titular character, Bananza (voiced by Tim Allen), on an inter-dimensional heist to steal every banana ever so he can extort Donkey Kong and King K. Rool out of their Smash invitations. On his adventure, he encounters Odd Rock (voiced by Zach Hadel), an odd rock that can detect all sorts of bananas underground.

It was originally planned that upon collecting a banana, the game would chant “KOJIMA” instead of the usual “BANANA”. Hideo Kojima was asked permission for this, but had to decline due to creative differences. However, he allowed a Glonpo cameo as a middle-ground. When asked about the situation, game director Inafune replied with: “It's better than nothing”. It is often speculated that this dispute is what started the tense rivalry between Inafune and Kojima.
